In the collection “No Time To Waste” a special type of epoxy is used to protect the timepieces from dust, damage and humidity. It is important to note that, once finished, the epoxy makes it close to impossible to adjust the size of a ring from this collection, since the heat or force applied in the process would certainly damage the cast.
The majority of the rings in the webshop are not yet cast, which sometimes allows for a slight adjustment to the size. Please keep in mind however, that any adjustment would be minimal and restricted by design as well. Should resizing really not be feasible, it may instead be possible, to recreate a similar ring in the right size. To be certain of any options for a specific item, you are more than welcome to contact IK sieraden
Knowing your ring size in advance will help avoid disappointment. A ring that fits well doesn’t feel like it’s going to fall off your finger, and it also doesn’t squeeze the skin on either side. IK sieraden will happily send you a complimentary ring sizer so that you may easily check your ring size at home. Alternatively, you can measure a properly fitting ring using a ruler or caliper (more information below).
Ring Sizer
If you would like to receive a complimentary ring sizer, please email your address details to info@iksieraden.nl with subject ‘RING SIZE’. You will receive the ring sizer, including instructions, via mail as soon as possible.
Ruler
Use a ring that fits well on the finger you intend to wear your new ring and place it on a ruler. Measure the mm of the inside diameter of the ring. Make sure not to include the thickness of the ring itself. The number of millimeters measured is also the ring size, for example, if you measure 17.5 mm, you require size 17.5.
Vernier Caliper
The Vernier caliper is a very useful tool for accurately determining your ring size. Use the internal ‘jaws’ to measure the inside diameter of a ring you already own.
- Important: If you are in doubt between 2 sizes, choose the larger size.
- Our dominant hands are generally slightly larger, so again, please make sure to measure the exact finger (and hand) that you intend to wear the ring on.
- Rings with wider bands will fit a bit tighter. If you plan to measure one of your rings, try to measure one with a similar width as the ring you are looking to purchase.
- Temperature and activity have your fingers shrink or expend in size so choose a suitable and ‘neutral’ moment for measurement.
- Please note that when a ring is custom made for you, it is no longer possible to exchange.
Bracelets and Necklaces
If you are not sure about the length of bracelet or necklace you are considering and you don’t have a suitable bracelet or necklace that you can measure to compare, use a piece of string instead.
When checking the size of your wrist, make sure to put the string loosely around the wrist so that the bracelet will not be too tight. Measure the length of the string with a ruler or other measuring instrument.
For the length of the necklace you do the same around the neck; look in a mirror to see which length you prefer.
Tip: Put an existing pendant on the string to see how far it will sag when there is weight on the string, this gives a better idea of how the necklace will fall around your neck later.
